The Native Hawaiian Tree Snails evolved over millions of years in to many different species because of their geographical isolation between the steep ridges and valleys of Hawaii's mountain ranges. Unfortunately most species are already lost to extinction and the remaining species are almost all endangered. Let's take a look at a fine specimen from the Bishop Museum collection. I will track down the exact species of this phat schnail later.
