Hello world. Today i needed to upgrade itunes to allow my 3.0 iphones to connect to my XP64 pc.
Basically it is the same as the last 20 updates to itunes
http://yukichigai.googlepages.com/iphonex64 - do what he says.
Download what he says -
download the 64 bit one from here http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
http://support.apple.com/downloads/iTunes_8_2_for_Windows__64_bit_
Use 7-zip to extract to a folder -
Use orca to change the launchcondition on itunes.msi to 501 from 600 (like he says)
Here is the difference:
AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi does not run on xp 64 - gives an error looking for xp with service pack 2. You need edit the file with orca- by right click, then go to launchcondition
Change this
(VersionNT=501 And ServicePackLevel>=2) Or VersionNT>=600
to
(VersionNT=501 And ServicePackLevel>=2) Or VersionNT>=501
Save and close -
Then proceed to install applemobile first, followed by itunes and quicktime. This time there is no need for a seperate installer for quicktime.
Let me know if you have problems.

Nice post.
Did you hear about the Windows 7 discount program? I guess if you pre-order it, you can get a sweet discount, starting this week. Vista users are not too happy, since XP users and Vista users will get the same price on an upgrade to Home Premium. In any case, a pre-order copy of home premium will cost $49.00. Professional will be $99.00. Pretty damn reasonable.
Check it out: http://windowsteamblog.com/blogs/windows7/archive/2009/06/25/announcing-the-windows-7-upgrade-option-program-amp-windows-7-pricing-bring-on-ga.aspx
I'm just happy because I want to upgrade to 64-bit, but don't want Vista. Hopefully 7 isn't rife with problems the way Vista is.
Right on! just got a new comp 8500 duo - 4mhz oc
do you think the upgrade option would work if I have a bootleg vista? should I just plan on reinstalling old version of xp64?
I heard 64 bit vista or whatever 64 will allow your ram to operate at full capacity
anyway let me know if you are going for the upgrade :)
The install went fine, but when I plug in the iphone, it doesn't come up in itunes.
WIndows recognizes it as an iphone and does its normal thing trying to use MS word to open it. But ITunes won't recognized it.
I did everything right: modded applemobiledevicesupport64 and itunes64 and installed them in that order.
What do you think could be going wrong here?
I'm having the same problem!
The itunes works perfectly except it just won't recognize the iphone when it's connected-- The iphone doesn't pop up in the sidebar.
Windows OS has no problem because it pops up with a box that says "Apple iPhone". I don't have any unrecognized devices in device manager.
Why doesn't Itunes recognize my iphone??!
