the fun of instamapper and a gps phone

hello blog world. Here at 40twenty, we try to use tech to have fun and expand our potential for fun and adventures. So today, on my post, I am covering the use of the not so popular but soon to be awesome instamapper.com program.
This free (yes free) system links your gps enabled phone through your data plan to a website which posts your current position and provides excellent tracking opportunities. In addition, certain handsets - g1 android for example allow remote activation of tracking (turn the gps on via text message) and deactivation. What does it mean to your?
Picture it, you go on a motorcycle trip across the USA - your family is of the worry wart breed. They can easily send a email at any time your phone is on, or sleeping, to give them your near exact location. the map you share with them can track your position with a trail to know the exact roads you covered and for the discrete times, you can limit the time interval for data sent to the server. This allows you the freedom to not have to call and check in.
Other great options include - as referenced in their faqs at instamapper.com use a 40$ prepay boost phone, hard wire it to the cars battery and using unlimited data - only ~11$ per day, you can have permeate lojack. Track your fleet vehicles for only $11 dollars a day -- that is dow right cheap. No longer will your ice cream truck drivers take naps at the park or visit their sig others.

In addition, you can share your location with your blog and your world... even facebook .

Bottom line- although google is starting the gps tracking this, instamapper.com is doing an added service with remote control of the gps unit. The stop and start of data and toggling of the gps unit allows for greater control of battery life and limits the devices signature.

good luck
