Rule of Civil Courtship 2

Rule 2. Group outings.

(a) During a group outing in which the suitor is in the presence of the person being courted, the suitor shall in good part entertain himself or herself and shall not attempt to monopolize the attention of the person being courted.

(b) [Reserved.]

[Revised 2009.]

Commentary:
The purpose of this rule is to not crowd the person being courted, which can easily occur if the suitor is focused solely on the object of interest. The person being courted should be allowed space to exercise agency to come to the suitor. In this way the courted shall not feel objectified.

This is a two part question for the rules committee: First, which rule governs appropriate timing for turning an online relationship (or stalking) into a real life relationship? Second, at what point has someone spent so much time hitting on girls online that an intervention becomes necessary?

Dear Sir,

As to your first question, the appropriate time varies from person to person. However, one rule of thumb is that once three messages have been exchanged, two of which include an exclamation or a smiley, than it's appropriate to suggest a meeting.

As to your second question, sir, the answer may be found in the smell of your pillowcase.

Thank you for your interest

Regards,
Secretary of the rules committee
